WORK EXPERIENCE AT ITV NEWS BIRMINGHAM.
In January 2017, I completed 30 hours of voluntary work experience at ITV news Birmingham.

Whilst at ITV news I learnt a variety of different skills that have helped to strengthen my Media and communicative skills Such as; Audio, Film, camera work and presenting.

Closely shadowing all departments enabled me to see what it is like to be a Multi skilled Media professional, which I know is beneficial in the Media industry.
I had the opportunity to follow a Journalist on a local story, that would be shown on air that night, this portrayed how high demand the Media industry can be however I feel I am more than capable of fulfilling these demands. With my creative editing techniques, I assisted the Journalist with the editing process, which I was very familiar with after using the same editing software for the past 4 years, at a very advanced level.

I was also thrilled to have a one to one session, which some of the ITV news presenters as they prepared to go live on air. They gave me advice on how to present with confident and clarity and how to achieve the best results as a media professional.

Company Testimonial
Luisa came across as a very sociable and easy-to-work with person. She shadowed a number of newsroom-based roles during her time here, including bulletin production, online operations on our livestream side of things, future story planners, and spent some time with the presenters learning about their roles. Hopefully this short taste of shifts will help her decide where she’d like to focus her future career prospects.
